Unpopular. Its our new band. Hi its Ethan. Unpopular is Graham and I. We have played with a couple drummers so far, and did our first show. I am pretty sure Jordan Willis is going to be our drummer (ex Night Court), but he is outta town right now, so rehersals with him wont pick up until early August. We have been doing sort of a work trade deal with Westie aka Western Homes, for these first couple shows. Last night we backed him up at Trailer Space for his set and it was rad. We are going to use our knowledge and acumen to start this band off right where the last one left off. Me and Graham were in Party Plants together, thats the back story. We had "band drama" and though we are aplomb with shittalking capability, we choose the highroad of saving it for in person, and keeping it off the internet. Sunday there was a show at Hotel Vegas that PP's "stole" as a part of our "divorce settlement," but it was good they played it. I went to the show and it was good to see all my friends and also to realize that, hey, I can go to Party Plants shows if i feel like it. It was cool to get to watch the show for once, and not have to be on stage.
Here's our first 2 shows, for the record books:
1st show !! @BIG STAR BAR, Houston TX, Saturday July 18th, 2015
w/ The Lentils, Grape Room.
*this was a great show. afterwards Fernando took us to Del Sol, and I had a Milinesa Plate. I am fascinated by Mexican restaurant food ever since I worked at Serrano's earlier this summer. The salsa was warm and so were the vibes. The Big Star Bar, my sweetest thanks to them, they gave us enough money to pay the touring bands and for us to have gas back to Austin, and they did it right out of the bar. I love their vibe, they don't even usually have bands, is my understanding.
**The Lentils and Grape Room are from Brattleboro VT, and they are doing a 2 month tour, at the conclusion of which they will move to Los Angeles.
2nd show !! @RED EYED FLY, Austin TX, Thursday July 23rd, 2015
w/ Sam Vicari
I did a show with Sam a couple years ago at Beerland with Spiked Punch. He was endearing in a Weezer kinda way, I think he must have had Weezer glasses or something. He passed out on my floor and was fun to hang out with. Im not sure if he is going out solo again, or traveling with a band, because I'm pretty sure up in Chicago he has a band. Anyways, he hit us up and Im psyched on that.
